Agadir Marina: strolls, restaurants and trips out to sea.

At the northern end of the main beach, the Marina is Agadir’s most elegant promenade: sailing boats, café terraces, ice creams, and boats heading out to fish offshore. The best place to end a day.

The basin of Agadir Marina, with its sailing boats and residences

Opened to the public in 2007, Agadir Marina covers 18 hectares at the northern end of the bay, between the beach and the commercial port. Its yacht harbour has about 300 berths (316 according to the Moroccan press), for boats up to 30 metres long. Around it, residences, shops, cafés and restaurants form a pedestrian district facing the water.

A stroll beside the boats

You can walk to the Marina along the seafront promenade from the town centre: the walk along the beach is an outing in itself. Once there, you wander along the quays, watch the sailing boats and yachts, and sit down at a café terrace. In the evening, when the heat eases, locals come for a family stroll, ice cream in hand.

Shops, cafés and restaurants

Brand-name shops, cafés, ice-cream parlours and restaurants line the basin. You will find somewhere to have lunch by the water or dinner on a terrace. Places change from one season to the next: choose on the spot, depending on what you feel like.

Trips out to sea

Several operators offer trips departing from the Marina:

  • Four- to five-hour boat excursion, with fishing, swimming offshore and grilled fish on board.
  • Private boat hire with a skipper, for an hour’s sailing in a small group.
  • Sea fishing, on a trip of a few hours.

With a bit of luck, you may see dolphins, but no trip can promise them. Compare the offers, ask whether the life jackets are suitable for children, and check the marine forecast the day before.

Around the Marina

Just to the north, the fishing port comes alive in the morning, at the time of the fish auction, which you can watch from balconies. On the hill overlooking the port, the Agadir Oufella Kasbah can be reached by cable car from the Tildi bridge: a lovely way to see the Marina from above. And the whole bay stretches away to the south, with the main beach and the seafront promenade.

Our tips

  • Come in the late afternoon, for the light on the boats and the cool of the evening.
  • Combine it with the seafront promenade: the beach in the afternoon, the Marina for dinner.
  • From Hay Adrar, the sea is 15 to 20 minutes away by car. Our Dacia Sandero is hired with no security deposit.
  • For all the other ideas, see what to do in Agadir.
